Iran-initiated Globe Silent Filmfest in the US has announced winners of various sections.
The prize winners of the third Globe Silent competed in five categories including fiction, animation, documentary, experimental and super short.
Among the award grabbers includes 'AniMal' co-directed by Iranian directors Bahman and Bahram Ark succeeding to nab prize for best fiction.
The Iranian flick's synopsis reads, "A man who wants to pass the border, disguises himself as a ram."
'AniMal' has so far gained several awards and nominations from prestigious international festivals, including the second prize of 2017 Cinéfondation Festival de Cannes, Best Director award of the Rio de Janeiro Int'l Short Filmfest and Best Short Film Award at the 8th Int'l Izmir Short Filmfest in Turkey.
Founded in 2015, the Globe International Silent Film Festival (GISFF) is an annual event focusing on image and atmosphere in cinema and is a platform for showcasing and judging films from filmmakers who are active in this field.
The third edition of the event took place on April 21-30, 2018 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the US state of Wisconsin.
